Madness in ancient literature
No ratings yet
It is a Princeton University Ph.D. Thesis. Although the book is highly useful for scholars studying the subject of insanity in literature, yet there is so much Greek in in that no one can fluently read it except those who knew Greek well. The author has done a lot of labour in writing the book and seems to be well conversant with ancient Greek literature. He shows how the poets and dramatists of that time depicted the social problems of the day, including madness, in their works. On the whole, the books is remarkable, except that the use of Greek makes it difficult to understand it.
