Is this the real life Mary Poppins?
No ratings yet
Welcome to Norland College, the quintessentially British 120-year-old childcare training college which turns its students into elite 21st Century Mary Poppins-style nannies. Norland Nannies have been sought after by the rich and famous for over a century, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, recently hiring a Norlander as a nanny for Prince George. Founded in 1892 by Emily Ward, the college is renowned for its rigorous rules, traditional uniform, perfect buns and clean white gloves. In this unique documentary, viewers get an insight into how contemporary Norland students embrace and champion the college’s tradition and training. Alongside their academic lessons the girls’ training includes practical lessons in cooking and sewing, as well as some more hands-on challenges like keeping a baby happy. The students are also taught advanced driving skills, including how to evade chasing paparazzi and take corners at high speed in the rain.
