The Silent Service depicts Kaieda's story on a grand scale, from declaring the independent state of Yamato and negotiating a military alliance with Japan, to the subsequent Battle of Tokyo Bay.Drama uses same cast and crew that worked on theatrical movie released a year earlier, and first four episodes are basically re-shoots of the movie, and then expand on that story.
