El Juramento follows Santiago de Landeros as he seeks to avenge his brother Diego's suicide by finding the woman who broke his heart, known only by a necklace and the initial "A". His quest leads him to the Robles Conde family, where the manipulative Alma deceives him into believing her virtuous cousin, Andrea, is the culprit. Driven by his oath of revenge, Santiago seduces and marries Andrea with the intention of making her life a living hell at his remote hacienda, only to find himself falling deeply in love with her as she desperately tries to prove her innocence. The truth eventually emerges that Alma was the real "gold-digger" who drove Diego to his death, forcing Santiago to beg for Andrea's forgiveness and fight to save their marriage from further external schemes.
