Retired military man and former special forces soldier Sergei Dedov, nicknamed "Ded," returns to his native Moscow to be with his daughter Anna and granddaughter Katya. But he finds himself without a place in the lives of those closest to him. And then one day, despite her mother and grandfather's misgivings, Katya decided to spend the holidays in St. Petersburg with a friend. The girls left, and soon afterward, an alarming call came: his granddaughter, haltingly, reported that she was about to be kidnapped. Without telling his daughter, Dedov left for St. Petersburg. Accused of devoting little time to his family and spending his life protecting anyone but his family, Sergei is now determined to prove otherwise. Despite his retirement, the former military man will again and again recall his combat experience and help those who desperately need his support and have almost given up hope.
