The young and beautiful Lesya has a rare gift: she can heal people, curing even those illnesses that modern medicine cannot handle. Lesya's gift is hereditary: both her late mother and her grandmother, with whom Lesya lives in an old village house, were healers. One day, a wealthy businessman, Arkady, arrives in the village, having given up hope of curing his injury. Lesya cures his illness. Arkady and Lesya fall in love with each other, and Arkady proposes to the girl. It would seem that Lesya's fate has been happily resolved: a life in the city, in a luxurious apartment, with a loving husband… But Lesya's grandmother is in despair. She is the only one who knows: Lesya's gift will be lost in the city.
